Ski Safety Day
January is National Ski Safety Month and Diamond Peak Ski Resort is participating with fun and educational activities on the slopes for Ski California Safety Day on Saturday, January 25, 2025. Meet Diamond Peak’s Patrol Director and Patrol Dog and be on the lookout for the Prize Patrol throughout the day.
- Meet & Greet (12-1pm): Meet Patrol Director Kari Brandt and Fred the Diamond Peak Patrol Dog on the snow behind the Base Lodge to learn more about what they do to keep our skiers safe. Recite points from the Skier Responsibility Code or take the Mountain Safety Guide Quiz to earn prizes.
- Prize Patrol (all day): Ski Patrol and friends will be passing out prizes to people who are being safe on the slopes throughout the day with special prizes for those caught keeping the lift restraint bar down until the green “raise bar here” circle. Make sure to get a selfie with them to be featured on our stories and be entered to win extra prizes.
- Sweep with Patrol (3:50pm): Advanced skiers and snowboarders are invited to shadow our patrollers during the end of the day sweep of the mountain on Ski Safety Day. Meet outside the patrol shack (a.k.a “Eagle’s Nest”) at the top of Crystal Ridge at 3:50pm.

When to Raise the Restraint Bar
Chairlifts have restraint bars to help keep you and your fellow passengers safe. It’s important to lower the bar once you are seated and keep it down until the “Raise Here” sign. Watch this video with your chair buddies and ride the chair properly so everyone has a safe and fun day on the slopes!
