Ski Safety Day
January is National Ski Safety Month and Diamond Peak Ski Resort is participating with fun and educational activities on the slopes for Ski California Safety Day on Saturday, January 24, 2026. Meet Diamond Peak’s new Patrol Director and be on the lookout for the Prize Patrol throughout the day.
- Terrain Park Safety Session (10:30am): Get a behind-the-scenes tour of the Village Terrain Park and learn about terrain park safety, maintenance, and etiquette. Participants will meet a Village Terrain Park attendant at the entrance of Spillway Park at 10:30am. (Must have a valid lift ticket or season pass, and be an advanced skier or snowboarder to participate. Access Spillway via Lightning off the Crystal Express Chair.)
- Meet & Greet (12-1pm): Meet our new Patrol Director, Danny Jones, on the snow behind the Base Lodge to learn more about what our patrol team does to keep our skiers safe. Recite points from the Skier Responsibility Code, take the Mountain Safety Guide Quiz, or show your safety selfies to earn prizes.
- Prize Patrol (all day): Ski Patrol and friends will be passing out prizes to people who are being safe on the slopes throughout the day. Take a selfie or post on social media about how you are being safe on the slopes and show a patroller for a prize. Tag @diamondpeak and @skicalifornia to be featured on our stories!
- Sweep with Patrol (3:50pm): Advanced skiers and snowboarders are invited to shadow our patrollers during the end of the day sweep of the mountain on Ski Safety Day. Meet outside the patrol shack (a.k.a “Eagle’s Nest”) at the top of Crystal Ridge at 3:50pm.

When to Raise the Restraint Bar
Chairlifts have restraint bars to help keep you and your fellow passengers safe. It’s important to lower the bar once you are seated and keep it down until the “Raise Here” sign. Watch this video with your chair buddies and ride the chair properly so everyone has a safe and fun day on the slopes!
