New for the 2014-15 season, Diamond Peak is making it easier and safer to enjoy the slopes with better grooming, electric vehicle charging stations, and products like the Flex Pass and perks for Diamond Peak pass holders. Here are some reasons to visit Diamond Peak this winter:
New Smoker and BBQ Joint: Wild Bill’s BBQ
Wild Bill’s BBQ, located on Diamond Peak’s Base Lodge deck, will offer authentic BBQ fare, slow cooked and smoked with house-made barbecue sauces and tasty sides. Offerings include tri-tip, brisket, ½ chicken, pulled pork, pork ribs, burgers, and grilled corn on the cob with a variety of sides and salads. Choose one of five house-made sauces; Ghost Pepper Mango BBQ Sauce, Bourbon BBQ, Wild Bill’s Signature BBQ Sauce, Carolina-Style Honey Mustard BBQ, or Sweet Baby Mae’s BBQ “sweet and sassy just like my daughter,” said Chef Vandenburg. Skiers can enjoy Wild Bill’s BBQ on weekends and holiday periods this ski season.
Improved Glade Skiing and Riding
Diamond Peak staff and the US Forest Service continue to improve the health and safety of the forest and ski trails with the defensible space program. Forest thinning during the summer helps reduce fire danger by increasing defensible space, but has the added benefit of making tree skiing even better. Look for new off-piste skiable terrain in the trees between Diamondback and Battleborn, located off of Crystal Ridge.

National Debut of SNOWsat Grooming Technology
Diamond Peak will be the first grooming fleet in the country with PistenBully’s new SNOWsat technology. Two new PistenBully winch cat and Park Pro snowcats, along with the remaining existing fleet, will be outfitted with this innovative technology to produce optimum slope quality, efficiently and safety. These GPS-enhanced snow groomers generate a cartographic image of the slopes used to accurately measure snow depths and ensure the best coverage for skiers and riders. Coupled with a GIS mapping system, the two cats with SNOWsatZ will also allow operators to more safely groom during whiteout conditions. SNOWsat aids with snowmaking accuracy thus minimizing environmental impact and conserving natural resources. PistenBully snowcats are at the forefront of the industry worldwide and were used in the 2014 Olympics.
New Electric Vehicle Charging Stations
Two electric vehicle (EV) charging stations were installed at Diamond Peak in the spring of 2014 allowing drivers to charge their EVs while on the go and fully charge their EV in a matter of hours. The four Eaton 70-am 240V J1772 Level 2 chargers are networked via ChargePoint. ChargePoint requires a membership but are free for the public to use for the first five years. http://www.diamondpeak.com/news/details/chargepoint-stations
