I've been a resident of North Lake Tahoe for 16 years, and I've enjoyed skiing here for 28 years. I really do believe that Diamond Peak is the best resort in Tahoe, and I'm blessed to be here. I love traveling, the outdoors, family life and all things Tahoe.

The Sweet Life of Diamond Pete

The Sweet Life of Diamond Pete

Posted by dawn on Tuesday, November 3, 2009 3:30pm (PST)

I never dreamed that one day I would be dressed up as a penguin for any reason. When I told a friend I was going to be a penguin for a Halloween event in Incline Village, she laughably assumed I meant “The Penguin” from the Batman series, and not an actual over-sized penguin. Then I explained th... Add Comment

The Altitude Factor

The Altitude Factor

Posted by dawn on Wednesday, July 29, 2009 9:49am (PST)

Earlier this week it hit a rare 90 degrees on the North Shore and it is hot. If it weren’t for the breeze at Diamond Peak, and occasional afternoon thunderstorms, it can feel as if the temperature might reach up to 100. But it has never gotten that hot in Tahoe, or has it? I can’t recall how oft... Add Comment

Summer is just around the corner!

Diamond Peak may be closed, but there is plenty to do in Incline Village and North Lake Tahoe, beginning with this weekend. The Championship Golf Course is ripe with killer golfing deals beginning this Saturday (that’s tomorrow) with free COBRA demo’s at the driving range between 10-2. The same ... Add Comment

This is it, the last weekend of our season. So get your Spring skiing gear on and come on up. What exactly is Spring skiing gear, you may ask? Well, sunglasses are a must. Sunscreen is highly recommended. And dressing in layers is a good idea, so you can peel off clothing as the day progresses. Some... Add Comment

Heavenly Spring Skiing

Posted by dawn on Sunday, April 5, 2009 12:52pm (PST)

I just got in from skiing and it was heavenly! The morning is the best this time of year to get out there, and then you can save the latter half of the day for sunning and enjoying your choice of beverages on the deck. I took a run down Popular first to get warmed up, and it was really nice, impecc... Add Comment

A plentiful abundance of sunshine, at least until Thursday

Posted by dawn on Monday, March 30, 2009 12:04pm (PST)

I was just checking the weather forecast and I love all the different ways they can say "Sunny". That's right, sunshine is predicted for most of the week, so Spring skiing is in order. There might be a small system coming through at one point, but with conflicting weather forecasts on two ... Add Comment

Sweet Dreams are Made of This

It sure feels like Christmas in Spring in Tahoe! The trees are packed with Powder all around the lake, and so are our runs! We reported 16 inches at the top just from last night alone, and more is on the way. If you are a powder hound, today will be be one not to miss, and if you love the fresh stuf... Add Comment

Open for Business

Posted by dawn on Monday, March 16, 2009 9:41am (PST)

Diamond Peak is open today. We are 100% open at this time. The conditions are wet, especially down here at the base where it is raining lightly, and up at the top where it is a mix of rain and snow. And I'm told there is limited visability at the top at this time. But we are open. When others close... Add Comment

"We're set for the season.” Those were the words of our Mountain Manager this morning in regards to the snowfall and our resort status. We’re not only set but we are above and beyond what is needed to remain open until our projected closing date of April 12th. Hands down, the mountain ri... Add Comment

Holy Cow! Did we ever get dumped on. We got a total of 24" at the top last night, and add 30 to that and this storm total brought over 50 inches of snow in the last 48 hours! And it looks like the sun may make an appearance making this a truly stellar day. Yes, I think that the odds are very g... Add Comment

Could it be a Miracle March?

Posted by dawn on Monday, March 2, 2009 12:23pm (PST)

For the last few hours we've been getting dumped on at Diamond Peak! This morning started out with a little rain but it didn't take long to turn to snow. It was funny because between the hours of 6am and 8:30am, the snow report was recorded 3 different times because the temps and weather was changin... Add Comment

The way up...

Posted by dawn on Friday, February 20, 2009 4:20pm (PST)

Today was an absolutely perfect day for a fair weather skier like me.
A no-beanie-required type of day. There was one exception; up at the top of Crystal it was a little nippy. But at that altitude, you can expect it. You know if your ears pop in the chair on the way up, you're probably going to h... Add Comment

Conditions are Sweet!

Last night each of my family members took a guess at how much new snow would be waiting when we woke up in the morning. The guesses ranged from 6" to a whopping 2 feet. It may just be epic at Diamond Peak!

This morning, it was quite cold, but the sun was shining and snow was calling my name.
