Sick of it all? Escape to Diamond Peak!by dawn
I don’t know about you but I am sick sick sick of television and newspapers right now. All you keep hearing about these days is job losses, economy woes and political and world turmoil. (Maybe you’re even experiencing some of the repercussions of this first hand. If that is the case, my prayers are with you!) It’s enough to make your head spin. Last night, I just wanted to relax and watch a little TV with my hubby. That’s all I wanted. But with news stories at every commercial, we were both overwhelmed with constant reminders of what a mess our country is in. Financially, oy. It is a sad state of affairs. We began thinking of ways to escape from everything. (Run away! Run away!) At one point my husband had us selling everything and moving to Norway, of all places, because he read somewhere that it had been voted the most economically stable country by some all-knowing publication. (I was thinking more along the lines of perhaps a new interactive video game to escape into, but that would mean I would be still be staring at the TV.) I quickly rebuffed the Norway idea, I mean, really… what would that teach our children? To run away every time a difficult situation comes along? But boy, does escape sound appealing. Escaping from reality not an option, it sort of made sense to escape, but to where? Then, remembering where in the world we live, (duh) we settled on getting out more and doing stuff here. Escaping here. To really enjoy this place we live in, in spite of all the negative press. Sometimes it takes merely looking out your window and seeing what’s out there, right outside your front door, to change your perspective. Perhaps, planning an escape is just what the doctor ordered. You don’t have to go as far as Norway, but somewhere close by either alone or with your family is just the refreshing you may need during tough these times, to get your mind off of it, all of it. This may sound like an obvious ploy to get you to come up to Diamond Peak to ski, but in all honesty, it may be just what you need. Get out from behind that depressing TV, newspaper or computer screen, and get out and do something to change your attitude. I do know one thing for sure, until the snow flies, I’m keeping my TV turned off. 1 Comment... |

Dawn, I'm with you. The wife and I just talking about christmas and what we are getting the kids. My 15 year old wants a Snow Board, All I could say was we live in Florida and you want to purchase what may cost us $700 to $1000 for a once or twice a year trip. Oh, yes the trip almost feel guilty that we can fly to Tahoe for the Holidays and there are people without Jobs. I guess I'm lucky that I have a job and my own Biz. 80 to 100 hrs a week not sounding so bad now. Well, thats my .02 cents and for those who are reading this and wish they could go to ski but the economy has taken it's toll, I will STOP on my vacation and say this time down the slope is for all those who are effected by this bad economy and I will think of them dedicating a run down the slope to them!!!!
