Are we there yet??

I was very surprised by the weather over the last few days. It's been sunny, temps in the 60's. It's not that I'm not happy to be hiking, biking and enjoying the sunshine but after that last storm I was kind of hoping for more signs of winter. Like a child on a long car trip, I keep on finding myself asking “Are we there yet? Are we there yet?” This weekend, another wet weather system is coming through along with the anticipation of what it will bring.
I did have a chance to hike up to my favorite spot yesterday to take a few photos of the fall colors. To my dismay, nearly of the aspen leaves had made their way to the ground in large heaps there, and my pictures were not that spectacular.
With that weather picture in my mind (heaps of leaves but no snow) another thing surprised me recently on a trip over to Truckee; Snowboarders unloading out of their car, dumping snow out of their boots? Ahhh...somewhere there is snowmaking about, and that makes me feel a wee bit better. We are getting closer in spite of it all. I’ll just keep on kicking the seat in front of me and know we’ll be there soon. I’ll keep you posted.
